For years I was plagued by these questions all the while sharing my money goals, successes, failures, and lessons with the world-wide-web so freely that Emily Post is probably clutching her pearls from the grave. For me, the benefits outweighed any conversational manners that many of us were taught as children. Not only am I able to measure my progress on the path to financial freedom from reflecting on past convos and learn from my girlfriends in the #SMCmoneytribe, I am also able to see the growth of my financial literacy and maturity. MY CAR IS 95% PAID OFF!!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have owned 4 cars (including my current car) in my life and my current car is THE FIRST time I ever had a car note. Every other car was paid for in cash, a habit I picked up from my Dad. Back in the summer of 2017, I was fully prepared to ride my then little white BWM for at least another 5 years. Then...BOOM, I needed car repairs... and to be honest, those repairs were worth more than the car itself. Not only did I not have a new car #sinkingfund in place, but I also didn't have a car repair sinking fund. Soooo, my best option (for the time, my personal preference, and lifestyle) was to get a "new to me" car at a 5-year term.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ***Disclosure For you #personalfinance buffs: I believe in investing in my financial goals but I also believe in investing in my lifestyle. I don't have a #gazelleintensity of a purist @daveramsey follower, but more like that of a cute baby goat (because I have a thing for baby goats). I'm serious about my money goals but I still spend and enjoy the things and experiences that sometimes cost $$$. This folk, is a big deal for everyone from my hometown of #Atlanta especially since the Saints are out. Since it is Super Bowl week, I will break down today’s money inspiration for you in sports terms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to inspire you to check your #financialplan. Is it current? Does it reflect your current financial status and goals (gosh, the last time I posted mine was in 2013)? RESTAURANT FREEBIES FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES The longest government shutdown in United States history began on December 22 and now leaves 800,000 government employees without pay or without assurance as to when they will return to work.
