{Simplicity Saturday} 3 Fabulous Hair Trends That Save You Time & Money

I’m not sure when I started doing this, but the word “simplicity” has become my weekend mantra. It’s something about saying, Simplicity Saturday or Simplicity Sunday, that helps me welcome the weekend and feel relaxed and empowered to do ANYTHING…even if that means actively doing nothing. I have been so busy lately, that I have not made time for what I consider “basic upkeep” (i.e. getting my hair done).  Whenever I find little pockets of time it is too late to make a hair appointment.  So what is a girl to do? Try new hairstyles at home, that’s what!  Below are a few of my favorite protective styles that look fabulous on all hair types, that saver time, and most importantly… simple!

How to Save Broken Lipstick

SMC Tip: My Broken Lipstick

how to save broken lipstick

Just the other day, I broke one of my favorite Mac creamsheen lipsticks. It basically overheated in my car so it’s of no good use now in its regular container. However, today I want to show you how to turn your old broken lipstick into a new, creamy lip color in just three easy steps. Take a look at the pictorial below for more insight:

What you need:

  1. Your Broken Lipstick
  2. Empty Gloss Container
  3. Vaseline
  4. Stirring device (spoon, coffee stirrer)

Step 1: Remove lipstick

Empty all of the lipstick debris. Be sure to get it all so that you don’t waste any product.

Step 2: Place in Container

Place the lipstick pieces into a small container.

Step 3: Mix Vaseline

Add in as little or as much Vaseline or that you’d like to create a consistency that you’d like, and stir with a plastic spoon.

Step 4: Enjoy your lipstick

To make a GLOSSY consistency:

  1. After step one, place the lipstick and Vaseline on a spoon.
  2. By placing a lighter or flame below the spoon, heat until the lipstick and Vaseline begin to melt together.
  3. Place the mixture into the container.
