Are You Wasting Your Money on a Deal?

I got an email from Birchbox the other day announcing Glamour magazine’s collaboration for the July 2012 Birchbox. I found myself getting excited thinking about all of the goodies I will soon be getting my hands on. Then I looked over on my dresser and saw my June Birchbox basically untouched. Last month, I rushed home to see what beauty goodies were waiting for me. Once opened, I tried everything and didn’t touch my package for weeks; thus, realizing three things. Firstly, I love getting mail that isn’t a bill. Secondly, I like the idea of being surprised by what products were chosen for my box and finally (and probably the most important), if I continued this pattern, no matter how good the deal is, I am wasting my money.

Making the Deal Work for You
After coming to the realization that paying $10 a month for a deal that I wasn’t taking advantage of is wasting $10 a month( $120 a year). So what did I do? I used or am actively using ALL of the products. I ate my Luna bar, which by the way was both yummy and healthy. I took a long bubble bath, while catching up on Kardashians, with the BORGHESE Body Soak and I came to the conclusion that as long as I was using the products, that Birchbox still ROCKS!

  1. You should also leave comments about the products on Birchbox’s site, after all, that’s the point of the service: get new products into the hands of people who will ultimately buy them and test run them. You also get extra Birchbox points for doing this and it helps the rest of us when we make purchases. The Coola Cucumber sunscreen that came in the June 2012 box was a disaster for me. I’m glad I was able to test run it first. Although, the Harvey Prince Ageless from April (?) I loved so much I bought a full sized bottle.

  2. I have to add that I am shopping around for another subscription though. I have plenty of makeup and really want some more Eco-friendly products all year around.

    1. I was a member of Eco Emi for about 6 months. Loved it! I only ended it because she sends soooo many goodies. I was getting too much lol I am going to subscribe again one day I think.

  3. I think birchbox is totally worth the money. You always get your moneys worth and you have a nice surprise to look forward to. I don’t have time for myself because I’m very busy but this ensures I have a treat to use through out the the month.

  4. I totally agree with you. I sometimes wonder if it is worth but I do get benefits from it…even if it is just the surprise factor. But I like being able to try new things. I love the points I’ve earned, as well. I actually have several staple products in my beauty arsenal that I learned about from Birchbox. I see all these people adding up the value and seeing how far from $10 it is and on youtube complaining about this and that. They want a $10 abstract idea to know them and their beauty needs completely. Moving around from box company to box company, looking for perfection
