Watching for Spring!!

Update: Please click here for “Watching for Spring Update”

My favorite season is here, which means it’s time to start packing away my fall/winter stuff and refresh my life and look for spring. One way I prepare myself for spring is by cleaning out my closet.

I am all about donating my old clothes and accessories that do not fit properly or no longer fit my style, but if I can sell them, I will. I am good for selling clothes to Rag-O-Rama in Atlanta and other consignment stores. Whatever they don’t take, I donate to a shelter, clothing drive, or the Goodwill. I used to have a hard time letting go of clothes because I attached a memory to them or I used to tell myself that I wear it one day…now I think how someone else can benefit from buying them at a price that’s in their budget.

Plus, getting rid of the old makes room for the new! Old me would have just bought whatever without a thought. Adult Danielle now takes into consideration the “adult bills” she is now responsible for…. that doesn’t mean I lose the fab, it just means I use my “cents”.  Thanks to my Mr., my newest style obsession is the bracelet/watch look and I plan on using the money I get from selling to consignment stores to go toward the “Danielle needs a cute new watch fund“.

I love the layered look like this:

These are my top contenders for achieving my watch style for Spring!

Black Girls RUN!

Black Girls RUN!

Black girls run? Of course we do. In 2009, Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks created Black Girls RUN! in an effort to tackle the growing obesity epidemic in the African-American community and provide encouragement and resources to both new and veteran runners. The mission of Black Girls RUN! is to encourage African-American women to make fitness and healthy living a priority. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 80% of African-American women are overweight. BGR! wants to create a movement to lower that percentage and subsequently, lower the number of women with chronic diseases associated with an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle.

Meet Jaronica (my bestie of 23 years)!

The Envelope System Saves $$$

SMC on The Envelope System

Someone pinned this picture on Pinterest of them dividing their money into different envelops as suggested by financial expert, Dave Ramsey. His explanation of the envelope system was simple and made cents/sense, so I thought I’d share it. My thoughts are in PINK, of course. … Continue reading

{Every Woman Should Know…} How to Set a Table

The number of twenty-somethings that did not know how to set a table properly surprised me.
I believe that every woman should know how to set a table…point blank and period. That is not to say that men need not learn this skill, it is just to speak to an ability that I believe everyone woman should have in her knowledge base. Whether or not you use this, is up to you, but at least you will know. This knowledge is free…. you should take itJ A friend of my called this a “wifey” skill but I just think this is something every woman should know…

Give It To Your Woman, It’s Her Job

Just recently, I did a post about how every woman should know how to set a table. Should I have written one about how every woman should know how to wash her man’s jeans?  LOL…I think NOT!  Bad press is better than no press, right? Well, I’m not too sure about that. I was reading my morning edition on my iPad when this popped up. It was a picture taken by Emily Barnett, a staff writer for The Daily Telegraph, of the inside of her boyfriend’s jeans.  Like most laundry tags, this one gives launder instructions and then gives the option to just “give it to your woman”. On one hand, I was not familiar with Madhouse Jeans before this morning. On the other hand, I doubt very seriously that they will get my business. Not that I’m getting all self-righteous or anything, I just don’t think it’s cute. These are jeans for MEN, so I don’t think this is an issue of someone being influenced by a sexist message, but rather me claiming my worth as a woman. Sorry honey, it’s not my JOB to wash your jeans. What I’m sure is supposed to be funny just comes off as offensive. I will save money because they won’t get mine. Just my two cents…

I can’t wait to hear what you think about this:

Target Enthuses: How I stole my Spring Break Beach Hat

Reblogged from Ruby Woo Blog:

So, I've got a new project! This time last year I was probably already en route to South Beach in Miami. I recall getting there and realizing how badly I needed a giant hat to shield my face. I mean, shades can only do so much when you're literally baking in heat for hours. Low and behold, just this week I walked into one of my favorite stores, Target, and saw beach hats on sale for a whopping $2.50!
